"Raising the Root" Reviewed by Colorado Music Buzz Magazine!

Amanda and Levi Dean obviously have a very symbiotic relationship on this disc. Putting great harmonies together can be auspicious at times, but Dean and Dean do really stellar work with vocal duties. Raising the Root has a very progressive yet folksy Americana resonance, especially with Levi Dean plucking the mandolin with aplomb. Amanda Dean really shines on “Mid January” with a Natalie Merchant dashed on top of Ani Difranco penchant for melody and words. With such a pronounced and beautifully full-bodied voice, Amanda should be doing more lead vocal duties.
Although Dean Station does what it does well, and the album does offer up great musicianship, tempo changes and vocal talents, it would be nice to hear a few tracks with fuller arrangements, particularly strings and bolder percussion. Three stars for songsmith crafting and singing and one additional star for the well thought out packaging and clean recording.
