Friendly Fire

Scout's up ahead
With his scope to his eye
He returns to warn the troops of stormy weather.

Just as he said
The winds began to rise
They just sat there wishing things Were better.

(Chorus)

So don't put me out babe
Were walkin' on glass and the Cracks in the walls need repair.
I know you feel the same
'Cause when the storm had passed You were still standing there.

They were soaked from the rain
They sat under the tree
All they had was a bottle of Whiskey to chug.

Then shots came
Was it the enemy the scout failed To see?
They were caught off guard with Their guns stuck in the mud.

(Chorus)

All they could hear
Were gunshots and thunder
The sky was black so they couldn't Even see where to aim.

Lightening struck to the rear
And from the light they saw their Brothers
They saw the color gray and Realized their coats were the same.

Queen on her Throne

He had red clay stains on his feet
He was out all day in the summer’s heat
And he felt that summer’s breeze
Blowin’ against his skin
As he watch the sunset through the trees

But he knew the breeze came from the west
And he couldn’t put his mind to rest
So he had to drift away.
He grabbed on to that setting sun
And he rode it all the way to Santa Fe

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign

Well he had women and he had booze
He didn’t have any thing to lose
He was certain he would always be alone
He lost every ounce of hope
That his queen would come and leave her throne

He traveled down the Camino Real
And he fell in love with a little gal
And the memories of his queen began to fade
Only if he had read the signs
He would have known and he would have stayed

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign

She picked him up and spun him around
Along the way he lost his crown
She was a mountain he had to climb
He made his way to the top
Not knowing what he would find

He thought he saw a vision of his queen
By the girl he was deceived
He knocked her up and she locked him down
And he spent his days in agony
As she spread her love all over town

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign

Go Ahead

She is a woman
Of stunning style and grace
He is a real man
And not just a pretty face

Together like Bonnie and Clyde
They steal across the west
Searching for something greater
Greater than life’s greatest

Chorus
Everyone says
You won’t last a day
Go ahead and try it
You’ll make it anyway

They shimmy and shake
In their old Chevrolet
Hootin’ and hollerin’
Out the window to the perfect day

Headin’ down route 66
To where the green hills roll
Where Mother Earth don’t stop to stare
She just bares her soul

Chorus

Bridge
She’s head over heels for him
And he loves her timelessly
They have a home anywhere
The sun is shining
And for them, that’s all that needs to be

Chorus
