Queen on her Throne

He had red clay stains on his feet
He was out all day in the summer’s heat
And he felt that summer’s breeze
Blowin’ against his skin
As he watch the sunset through the trees

But he knew the breeze came from the west
And he couldn’t put his mind to rest
So he had to drift away.
He grabbed on to that setting sun
And he rode it all the way to Santa Fe

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign

Well he had women and he had booze
He didn’t have any thing to lose
He was certain he would always be alone
He lost every ounce of hope
That his queen would come and leave her throne

He traveled down the Camino Real
And he fell in love with a little gal
And the memories of his queen began to fade
Only if he had read the signs
He would have known and he would have stayed

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign

She picked him up and spun him around
Along the way he lost his crown
She was a mountain he had to climb
He made his way to the top
Not knowing what he would find

He thought he saw a vision of his queen
By the girl he was deceived
He knocked her up and she locked him down
And he spent his days in agony
As she spread her love all over town

But little did he know
He left his queen upon her throne
And the rays from the sun made him blind
She opens her window once a year
And then he disappears
God only knows if the stars will realign
